Swiss Ball Throw

Intended Learning
Students understand the relationship between stability and accuracy
Students recognise that in most cases power and accuracy is
increased when stability is increased.

Activity
Balance on the swiss ball in the 3 positions below. Place a rubbish bin 5 metres away. Using tennis balls,
take three shots from each position, aiming to get the tennis ball into the rubbish bin. Record your results.
Position 1 Sitting with feet on the ground and legs apart
Position 2 Feet off ground while sitting on a swiss ball
Position 3 Standing on a swiss ball (with spotters).

Teaching Questions
Explain the steps you will take to lower your centre of gravity as much as possible while still being
capable of moving across the beam?
If crawling is the most stable position to move, why do we not crawl everywhere?
